The short answer: transfer factor is information, not stimulation
Most immune supplements are built on one of two ideas — fill a nutrient gap (vitamin C, zinc, elderberry) or push immune activity upward (various "immune boosters"). Transfer factor belongs to a third category, and understanding that is the key to understanding how Max works.
Transfer factors are small, low-molecular-weight peptides — short chains of amino acids that immune cells use to pass recognition information to one another. They were first documented in 1949 by H. Sherwood Lawrence at NYU School of Medicine, who showed that immune sensitivity could be transferred between people using a low-molecular-weight extract of white blood cells. Step 1 · Recognize, in more detail
Colostrum is the antibody-rich first milk a mother produces after birth, and it exists for exactly one biological reason: to transfer immune information from a mother to a newborn that has none of its own. 4Life's original 1998 product was built on that observation, using bovine colostrum. Hen egg yolk was added later as a second source, because a mother hen faces a different set of environmental exposures than a cow — a different library of information.

Step 3 · Remember, and the honest reading of "90%"
The "supports 90% of key immune cell types" line appears throughout 4Life's Max materials, and it is worth reading precisely. It is a claim about breadth of cell types touched, not a claim that immune function improves by 90 percent. The cell types named are the ones any immunology textbook would list as central: natural killer cells and macrophages for innate surveillance, neutrophils as the most numerous first-responders in circulation, and T and B cells as the architects of adaptive memory.
The Jensen 2026 report on neutrophil activation is the document most directly supporting this step, since neutrophils are the most abundant white blood cell in human blood — activity there implicates a large share of the total cell population.*
Step 4 · Renew, the newest and least-tested claim
Stem cell mobilization is the reason the framework has four verbs instead of three. Hematopoietic stem cells sit in bone marrow and generate the entire white blood cell lineage; mobilization refers to increasing their movement out of the marrow niche.
